Job Summary:
Perform mechanical, electrical and electronic plant/equipment maintenance so production downtime is minimized and efficiency maximized.
Job Duties:
- Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical problems of all plant equipment (e.g., mechanical drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
- Operate basic testing equipment (i.e. multi-meters) to locate and isolate faults in electronic and mechanical devices;
- Troubleshoot/repair electrical problems of plant and packaging/processing equipment such as wiring, circuits, fuses, switches, electrical installations, transformers, motors and AC/DC motor drivers.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections of plant equipment and components
- Troubleshoot/repair electro-mechanical problems on plant packaging/processing equipment.
- Design/fabricate replacement parts or equipment: weld, lathe, mill, presses, grinders, repair equipment.
- Identify necessary programming changes or reload software when necessary; Diagnose complex system failures and recommend both immediate and long-term corrective action to the leadership team
- Perform building maintenance and repairs (air conditioning, lights, forklifts).
- Provide maintenance and operator training.
- Use computerized maintenance system for history and parts inventory; purchase/request replacement parts when necessary.
Required Experience/Skills:
- 2 year degree in electronics or 4+ years experience as an electronics technician, or 2 years vocational training in maintenance mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine shop, electricity, electronics and programmable computers.
- Experience with PLC controllers and or variable speed motors preferred
- Electrical license (preferred)
- Boiler, refrigeration and electrical licenses are a plus.
- Minimum 2 years experience in plant and production equipment maintenance.
- Ability to operate machine tools, power tools, forklift, welding equipment
- Ability to lift/carry 75-100 pound objects and repetitively lift/carry 20-50 pound objects
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, push, pull
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics, troubleshoot production equipment, and communicate effectively with machine operators and vendors, and work closely with other team members.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Knowledge of testing equipment and the ability to operate digital/analog circuitry, volt/amp meter, and chart recorder
