TELECOMMUNICATIONS LEAD SERVICE TECHNICIAN at Minneapolis

Responsible for:Installation, service and maintenance of telephone systems in governmental facilities. Qualified candidate should be able to identify software/hardware problems, troubleshoot T-1 problems, and be able to work with vendors toward resolution. Must be on call 24/7 and must be able to obtain and maintain all security clearances that are required to gain access to the facilities that are assigned to you.

Requirements:

Telephone and computer experience (5 years) including but not limited to: pulling cable (Cat3 & Cat5), terminations (110, 66, Krone, RJ11 & RJ45) up to 100 pair cables and troubleshooting wiring / T1 / CO dial tone problems and computer repairs (drive, card, board, memory replacements and troubleshooting of hardware as well as OS problems).

Low voltage certification / license (PLT).

Working knowledge of wiring infrastructure and able to install services and equipment as outlined on specs.

Must pass internal certification tests within first 30 days of employment

Excellent multi-tasker and well-organized (administrative work including expenses and time sheets)

Test equipment (VOM, Sidekick, TBIRD, etc.)

Experience working with MS-Windows based servers and workstations including Microsoft Office Suite (2 years).

Professional response and excellent customer service skills; attention to detail and adherence to security/safety standards at all times.

Must be able to squat, climb, bend, sit for prolonged periods and must be able to life 50 pounds.

High School Diploma or equivalent; must be able to obtain and maintain all required facility security clearances (10 year background check). Excellent driving record (minimum three years). Further technical education and/or training preferred.

Strong communication skills (able to communicate fluently, written and verbal, in English) for working with other technicians and management.
