ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Financial Accountant II is the second level in a four level job family. The incumbent is expected to perform a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annual accounting processes with little oversight and under pressure of deadlines. He or she is expected to review and analyze the financial results and give explanation to the results. The incumbent is expected to understand the process flow and ask questions as necessary and suggest changes when appropriate.
ABOUT YOU:
Qualified applicants should have earned an accounting degree from an accredited four-year college. The incumbent should have 3 to 5 years of accounting experience with particular emphasis on property and casualty insurance accounting experience. The incumbent should possess or be working toward professional and/or insurance certifications. CPA certification preferred. The incumbent should be able to compose grammatically correct letters, memos and emails. The incumbent should also be capable of writing clear and concise procedures and internal control documents. Solid oral communication skills are required which includes the ability to speak clearly, distinctly and courteously. The incumbent should have the ability to speak comfortably in one on one and group settings and to extemporaneously explain relatively complex material in a manner that can be easily understood by non-accountants. The incumbent must also be able to handle confidential material appropriately. The incumbent must have a solid foundation in General Accepted Accounting Principles and an introduction to Statutory Accounting Principles is helpful. The incumbent must have knowledge and ability to use personal computers and to use personal computer applications to enhance and expedite processing and reporting requirements. The incumbent must be able to recognize a problem, define the problem, break it down, suggest solutions and communicate them to others. The incumbent must be able to recognize the accounting issues inherent in somewhat complex business transactions and present them to non-accounting personnel in a clear and concise manner.
