This position is accountable for the timely and effective development of technical documentation for Digi International products for online production. Works on projects of moderate to complex scope using a variety of software tools. Join a dynamic, growing team that will be responsible for the transition of traditional documentation into "best in class" topic-based content.

Essential Functions and Duties:

• Develop an excellent understanding of the products to be documented: Review technical design specifications for assigned projects; attend engineering meetings; become closely acquainted with SMEs and product managers; acquire and review technical source material such as product specifications, engineering draft content and images.
• Use and test products from a user perspective; identify the user needs and tasks the user must accomplish; choose the most effective documentation methodology for each specific product, including detailed online help documents, SlideShare presentations and video tutorials.
• Write documentation, develop illustrations and lay out content; keyword-optimize all content for search engine placement.
• Review documentation with appropriate resources to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of content and revise accordingly.
• Manage original and revised versions of manuals as required.
• Assist team with technical guidelines and resources; provide leadership with regard to documentation quality based on extensive knowledge of topic-based help systems and best practices. Help to drive the migration of high priority technical content to best in class" topic -based help

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent training and experience, plus 8-10 years related work experience.
• Knowledge of PCs, desktop publishing tools, graphic application and content optimization techniques
• Ability to review products from a new user perspective and provide detailed instructions on how to accomplish tasks with clear examples
• Must have ability to direct the work of others.
• Must be detail oriented and show demonstrated ability for a high degree of accuracy
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
