While we would prefer this person to be based in Minneapolis, MN, Baltimore, MD, Richardson, TX or Tampa, FL we are open to considering other locations if the person is willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
As the leader of our technology capabilities, the individual will be accountable for developing a technology strategy and roadmaps to enable a growing and evolving international business. They will be responsible for delivering innovative technology solutions by partnering with UnitedHealth Group enterprise technology solution groups, building and/or buying new solutions as appropriate.
Core responsibilities of this role will include:
* Understanding business strategy, translating that strategy into an IT agenda and driving execution against the agenda
* Contributing to business strategy as a member of both the technology and business leadership teams
* Ensuring effective alignment of technology to support business strategies
* Designing, implementing and orchestrating an innovative & disciplined software development process
* Delivering business results through technology
* Understanding technology solutions for the storage and manipulation of data as well as application functionality
* Holding end to end accountability for making the IT service chain work including both applications and infrastructure
* Integrating acquired organizations and technology assets
* Ensuring consistent delivery on schedule, on cost, on scope, on benefit and within quality goals
* Continually driving innovative solutions to business challenges and applying technology best practices
* Leading technology integration and simplification initiatives on an ongoing basis
* Building relationships to appropriately leverage resources to deliver solutions
* Designing an efficient staffing model through leveraging of diversified labor sources
* Providing an end to end constituent experience that exceeds expectations
* Identifying and mentoring technology professionals, in order to build and maintain a high performance team
Qualifications
Candidates will possess:
* Track record of successful collaboration with business executives relative to business strategy and capital planning processes
* Proven ability to understand business operating workflows and translate them (and the business strategy) into an IT agenda
* Proven track record of successful application development, from business need through software launch
* Previous success creating short and long term roadmaps to leverage technology in order to meet business objectives
* Demonstrated creativity and the sophistication to determine when to leverage existing vs. build (or buy) new capabilities
* Ability to build effective working relationships with executives and key business partners to enable business growth
* Proven experience effectively communicating with both business and technology audiences, including the ability to demonstrate/present how technology can enable a business capability
* Results-oriented individual with strong influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
* Demonstrated results operating within a large, matrixed, global organization
* 15 + years of technology leadership experiences
* Prior success leading and managing a distributed IT organization (including offshore team members) to deliver IT solutions
* Inspirational leadership style that promotes innovation and collaboration and fosters commitment to a shared vision
* Ability to build the right team, focus people and model integrity
* Success building, growing and mentoring teams
* Proven experience managing organizational growth and change
* Prior tenure as a CIO or CTO preferred
* Health benefit operations and / or international experiences highly desired
* Experience leveraging shared technology services preferred
* Understanding of international data requirements and regulations for information protection of value
* BacheloraEUs degree in Information Systems or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
