Graphics Design Department Manager at Saint Paul

Johnson Brothers is a family-owned wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages distributor with headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. We are seeking an experienced and creative Graphics Designer to work with our dynamic team in a fast paced environment.

The Graphics Design Department Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of graphic design and production, including concept development and presentation, design, layout and print production for all internal and external promotional, advertising and marketing materials. You will be managing a team that is responsible for a variety of types of projects such as: corporatebranding materials, large format signage, banners, point of sale materials, advertising layouts, menus, presentation kits and promotional handouts.You will also be managing the print production area that will include use of printing, cutting, trimming, laminating, coating, and scoring machines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Provide leadership and direction to graphics designers and production staff.

Design and print original point of sale items, menus, signs, and support general office print needs using the Adobe Suite software.

Communicate with sales personnel and management to ensure design accuracy and verify project completion date.

Manage and update OnTrak system with new order types and pricing.

Assign new work orders in Ontrak to designers to manage workload for the team.

Research vendors and order materials to leverage cost for best pricing.

Keep track of finances. Make sure to use the best vendor with the best price.

Print on a variety of different materials using: the Roland, Canon, and HP Plotter printers.

General upkeep/maintenance of printers including: adding paper, changing paper, ink, toner, troubleshooting and any other printer necessities.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Graphic Design

3 5 years of people management and team motivation

Strong concept development and hands-on design skills.

Experience using a MAC with Illustrator,Photoshop, Dreamweaver and InDesign.

The ability to work and solve problems independently and to manage projects from concept to completion.

Ability to handle multiple projects with varying schedules and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail and accuracy of data.

Ability to organize and process large amounts of work.

Ability to contribute as a member of a creative team.
