Senior Test Engineer at Minneapolis

Position Purpose:

The Sr. Test Engineer will verify and validate machines and printers that produce cards and forms. The Sr. Test Engineer will perform the accountabilities detailed below and other duties as assigned. This position will begin with the MPR5800 milling and embedding system. Subsystems include switching logic, pneumatics, servos and stepper motors, laser engraving, smart card encoding and a Windows based controller that manages the subsystems.

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

Test Effort  - 70%

• Work with Engineering Project Management to author and review test plans and test cases.
• Generate data, setups and scripts that support the test cases.

• Report status during product development and generate a test report at the end of the task.
• Execute tests and collect data. Capture issues with a problem tracking system. Confirm fixes.
• Help hardware and software developers isolate and resolve issues.
• Manage the test environment.

 

 

Leadership  - 30%

• Project team lead for the test effort
• Subject matter expert in producing cards for financial, ID and gift markets.
• Define and implement efficiencies to reduce cycle time and development costs.
• Give and accept input within the development process.
• Verify priorities and work independently in a high pace, fluid development environment.
• Mentorship. Help to develop expertise in others and the test team as well as accept opportunities for improvement.
• Scholar of test methods and root cause analysis.

 Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• 2 year technical degree
• Minimum of 5 years experience with testing or developing complex, multi-discipline systems in a results and schedule driven development environment.
• An understanding of risk management/mitigation
• Experienced in writing programs/scripts to drive tests. Able to use web services and proprietary command language to drive tests.
• Experience with virtualization.
• Demonstrated results using standard root cause analysis techniques and applying metrics to problem solving.
• Proficient with MS products: Excel, Power Point, Outlook
• Ability to travel as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in any technical field
• Experience with automated test tools.
• Test Engineering Certification
• Proficient with dashboards to report status.
• Ability to isolate hardware issues to the board level
• Ability to isolate software issues.
• Previous experience in testing databases.
