Job Description


Major Function

Provide, financial analysis and business development process support for new business development initiatives (internal strategic development, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances). This position will drive the financial analysis as part of a team that develops and executes growth opportunities from identification through integration. Provide financial leadership and direction to the business development function.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and refine financial models in support of business development opportunities. Build valuation models, ROI’s, P&L’s, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows in accordance with Toro standards. Gain consensus with Business Development, Corporate Finance and Divisional financial management.
• Develop and/or refine Toro M&A methods and create materials to educate Toro divisional business development, management, general employees, and target acquisitions on Toro M&A Process.
• Be a supporting member of the team that identifies, analyzes, negotiates, and plans the integration of acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Participate in multiple “deal projects" including deliverables, deadlines, and expectations of various stakeholders. Review and share findings and status with management.
• Attend industry shows, build industry relationships, and interact with Investment Bankers to generate deal flow. Monitor internal strategies and analyze business development opportunities against strategy.
• Provide strategic analysis support on complex business opportunities (enterprise shaping or division-extending) individually and/or in conjunction with divisional and corporate business partners for review by executive leadership team.
• Draft deal correspondence and review and shape legal transaction documents, i.e. Indications of Interest and Letters of Intent.
• Be a key member, and sometimes financial leader, of the due diligence and integration teams for acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic alliances.
• Monitor execution of integration plans.
• Participate in internal strategy and business development initiatives including strategize project teams, CATT initiatives, and enterprise shaping opportunity analysis

For Financial Focused Business Development Manager

• Liaison with Toro Finance professionals (divisional, GA, Tax, Treasury, financial systems)
• Measure M&A investments and track results to develop insight for future transactions
• Act as financial controller for business development and HR functions – prepare financial budgets and quarterly projects, track actual spending, etc.
• Professional finance staff support and leadership

Job Dimensions

• Member of high-performing, multi-discipline management team (strategy, marketing, financial) with participation in all aspects of new business development.
• Member of a centralized Corporate function servicing the growth needs of Toro divisions and Toro Corporate, while factoring in the needs of HR, Legal, Finance, IS, etc. Ability to develop consensus among conflicting priorities and leading through influence.
• Exposure to diverse and complex strategic, industry, and business environments – requires broad business understanding and the ability to quickly understand new situations, apply methods/ frameworks, and synthesize sound solutions and strategies.
• Mentor to divisional management, business development, and financial managers/ controllers related to acquisitions (i.e. provide analytical, financial and procedural guidance and training)
• Works closely with VP Business Development and HR, executive staff, divisional management, Director of Center for Advanced Turf Technology (CATT), Finance leadership, Legal leadership, Operations leadership, and IS leadership.
• Business development opportunities will be global – position requires travel (10-20%)

Job Requirements



• Degree in Accounting or Finance related; MBA and/or financial certification preferred
• Seven years or more experience in a relevant business role. Strong managerial perspective, demonstrated analytical capability, good interpersonal and communication skills, highly motivate, mature, positive individual.
• Significant demonstrated experience in accounting and financial analysis in a variety of environments
• Broad experience in business, strategy, or accounting in a manufacturing environment; experience supporting mergers and acquisitions preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and deliver on projects in a timely manner
• Exceptionally strong spreadsheet, data analysis and related software and computer competencies
• Experienced internal or external consulting skills including relationship building, communication skills, presentation delivery, rapid learning, and teaching.
