The Supply Technician(Item Manager) serves in the Materiel Management Section Acquisition and Materiel Management Service, at the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, in support of the VAMC, Fort Snelling National Cemetary, VA Regional Office and Insurance Center, VA Debt Management Center, Minneapolis Education Center, and the Twin Ports Outpatient Clinic. Some Major Duties include:
-Negotiates purchases of expendable supplies and services
-Utilizes automated databases to maintain stock inventory
-Resolves administrative problems such as delinquent deliveries, payment discrepancies, quality complaints, etc.
-Works with vendors regarding product returns, credits, and exchanges
-Follows various procurement policies and policies governing purchase cards
WorkSchedule: M-F, 8am-430pm, subject to change based on the needs of the agency

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcment: Tuesday, July 23, 2013
Time-in-grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
FOR GS 6: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization to qualify at the GS-06 level. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to inventory management control work; experience as a supply technician, warehouse worker, or materials handler.
FOR GS 7: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization to qualify at the GS-07 level.Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to negotiating purchases of expendable supplies, conducting market research and resolving administrative problems such as delinquent deliveries, quality complaints
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 and GS-07 levels.Youwill be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Othercharacteristics (KSAOs) based on your application for this position.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 25 pounds). The employee regularly pushes loaded carts weighing several hundred pounds, aligns them on tracks leading to automatic transport systems in sometimes crowded quarters, and works them over slight rises such as door sills.
