Primary Objective of Position:

This role will apply professional engineering techniques to support, identify, define, plan and coordinate programs to reduce cost and eliminate waste to obtain the lowest overall cost while enhancing product value to the customer. This role will partner with Supply Chain, Marketing and other cross-functional team members to develop and implement these savings and investigate ideas to fill value engineering funnel for future value engineering programs.

Job Responsibilities

• Support and sometimes lead cross-functional teams to implement cost reduction items into production. This will cover both branded platform products and products engineered for specific customer application
• Work closely with Engineering Manager to establish a timeline to design and test initiatives and evaluate to make sure the products still meet the customer needs
• Support cost reduction programs and evaluates and modifies existing processes to reduce the manufacturing cost of units
• Support and promote VE techniques throughout the Global Category
• Generate cost reduction ideas
• Assist in the development of value engineering roadmaps assisting in forecasting savings for future months, quarters, and years
• Participate in new product reviews to help apply cost reduction ideas/disciplines pre-launch
• Coordinate and maintain implementation schedules
• Assist in prototyping and testing
• Assist in directing outside activities such as regulatory or other third party testing
• Use and sometimes establish test specifications and protocols
• Apply specific technological expertise to specific projects i.e. component selection analysis

Job Requirements

• BS in engineering required
• 1-5years of related engineering experience
