Job Description

    Boiler / Stationary Engineer / Power Generation Supervisors:

    Opening in Drayton, ND

    • Provides expertise on the operating capabilities and characteristics of power generating equipment, including coal and gas fired boilers and turbine generators.
    • Supervises the utilities employees and the operation and maintenance during both campaign and inter-campaign periods.
    • Authorizes power generating procedures and practices to maximize safety and efficiency.
    • Manages the training and development of the power generating area and staff to ensure current staffing meets Company needs and establishes a succession planning process to ensure future staffing needs are met.
    • Develops power generating budget for approval by Maintenance Superintendent/Factory Manager/Corporate Operations. Ensures power generation area operates within established budget.
    • Develops the plan and schedules maintenance for the pressure relief systems throughout the entire facility and ensures compliance of code vessels. Requires working closely with the Code Compliance Engineer in ensuring compliance.
    • Schedules the power generation maintenance and preventive maintenance activities. Provides direction and review of maintenance to ensure work is performed correctly and efficiently.
    • Manages power generation to ensure all pollution control and monitoring equipment operates within permit limits.
    • Manages and coordinates the coal delivery and stockpile with Corporate Purchasing to ensure supply on hand meets needs.
    • Manages the condensate systems and works with process management to ensure water quality issues are maintained appropriately.
    • The incumbent interacts in a professional manner with the insurance company and accompanies the insurance inspector during site visits, participates in debriefings, maintains all documentation from inspections, summarizes and communicates results to factory management team and corporate staff. Troubleshoots noncompliance issues and takes corrective action as needed.
    • Establishes expectations and ensures employees and equipment meet high standards for work, safety, environment, housekeeping, cost and quality.
    • Addresses any work rule violations or individual employee performance issues.

    Job Requirements


    To be successful in this position, Boiler / Stationary Engineer / Power Generation Supervisors -requires complete knowledge of coal fired boiler operations, steam turbine operations, electrostatic precipitator operations, and all other operations required in the generation of steam and electrical power normally gained through the completion of a 4 year engineering/technical degree or 5 or more years of related work experience in an industrial/ manufacturing environment.

    A State of Minnesota, High Pressure Boiler Division, Chief A Engineer License, or equivalentlicenseor experience is required. Effective communication and supervisory skills are required; previous supervisor experience is preferred.
