Director of Quality at Saint Paul

Job Description

The Director of Quality at GovDelivery is responsible for driving overall Quality in the organization and, more importantly, throughout our customers entire user experience. The definition of quality related to web-based applications has evolved in recent years and expands beyond just testing each software release. Ensuring a top-notch customer experience in all of our production environments is a key to success in this role.

The Director of Quality will work closely with the Product and Development teams to ensure quality is infused at every part of the process and continues all the way into production. This individual will lead all quality teams, including manual QA testing, test automation, performance testing and production support.

Were looking for an expert leader to work closely with the entire technology team to define and sustain a Quality Assurance vision that incorporates cutting edge QA standards, performance testing approaches, automation strategies and frameworks. Most importantly this person must have the desire and skills to build a strong team that works well together, deliver quality results, and enjoy the work they do and the problems they (and the team) get to solve.

  • Prepare status reports and compile metrics related to quality. Communicate regularly with Business and Development teams and champion the teams accomplishments, workload, and issues
  • Manage release planning, scheduling, and coordination of overall quality work effort serving as initial point of escalation for team members issues and concerns
  • Handle an extremely fast pace while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Propose tradeoffs and provide risk assessment to stakeholders
  • Maintain composure in the face of rapidly evolving environments and constant change
  • Mentor and grow a large team of technical professionals into world-class quality gurus


You have:

  • 7+ years of software testing experience, 2-3 years in a rapid application development environment
  • 3+ years experience in a web-based testing environment
  • Success supervising and developing both technical and non-technical staff
  • Comfort working at the Linux command line
  • Experience in automated testing and automated test scripts
  • Exploratory testing techniques and risk-based testing
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Ruby, Java, JavaScript
  • Comfort with SQL prompt
  • Success working within an Agile software development process
  • Browser compatibility testing, i.e. multiple versions of IE, Mac OS, and Firefox
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience in software development/testing


Compensation

The compensation package will be tailored to the candidate commensurate with candidates experience and skills. Compensation will include base salary and performance-based incentives.
