CERTIFIED INTERVENER
Job Description: Provide individual support to students who
are DeafBlind, which refers to a combination of hearing and
vision loss that affects the way a student is able to access
information and function in the educational environment.
Promotes the development of communication skills and
supports educational enhancements to the student.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provides visual and auditory information to
Deaf Blind students.
* Follow and supports the communication plan as described
in the assessment or Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
* Guides student through activities and hands on exploration
of materials as appropriate.
* Provide access to information, environments, and materials
for the student who may otherwise be unable to access or
understand due to sensory impairments.
* Provides ongoing input and suggests modifications to
lessons as needed for the student and as specified in the
IEP under the direction of licensed staff.
* Reports any significant behavioral or academic concerns
and maintains a daily log of student goals and behaviors.
* Participates in IEP meetings to address areas of
improvement in facilitating the education process.
* Proficient with use of assistive technology.
* Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of college, 1 to 3 years experience working with
school children and/or special needs populations and
completion of, or the ability to complete, a certified Intervener
training program.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge in deaf blindness, orientation and mobility,
language development and various communication systems
and methods (calendars/schedules, object cuing, coactive
and interactive signing, tactile signing, etc.) ASL experience
and experience intervening/working with deaf blind individuals
preferred.

Hours:
As required by the IEP (8:00-3:00)

Salary:
Range: $15-$18 per hour, Depending on experience
