Lab Coordinator at Grand Rapids

Job Description

The primary responsibilitiesfor this Lab Coordinator position is leading, supervising and coordinating activitiesof personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests required forquality control.

  • Responsibilities include managing the day to day activities of the iron concentrate analysis of all product manufactured on a daily basis.
  • Schedule and execute workflows in the lab.
  • Ensure all testing and analysis is performed according to production requirements in order to meet customer shipping requirements.

· Determines quality improvement parameters byidentifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes

· Analyze resultsfrom lab testing and recommend improvement actions as appropriate.

· Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, andsummarizing data; making recommendations.

· Ensure compliancewith the determined test requirements for the manufacturing processes.

  • Ensure compliance to all applicable industrial, commercial and customer specifications.
  • Maintain equipment for testing and measurement for Lab.
  • Manage capital equipment purchases for Lab.
  • Apply and sustain six sigma and lean manufacturing work practices in work area(s) to maintain safe work environment.

· Supervise small teamin running reliability tests and providing failure analysis support

· Review ofequipment and resource capabilities and support of the labs to develop annualcapital plans.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing relatedresults as needed.

· Other duties orprojects as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality or Manufacturing Lab setting
  • Proficient in statistical analyses
  • Experience with six sigma and lean manufacturing principle
  • Experience in running and maintaining a lab (capital, operations and maintenance)
  • Experience in a manufacturing-based company
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities;
  • Previous experience supervising staff

· Strongcommunication skills and ability to deal tactfully and efficiently at alllevels of the organization;

· Exceptionalorganizational and problem solving skills;

· Awareness ofoperational safety requirements in a manufacturing environment and ability toapply and follow procedures and requirements per regulatory bodies;

· Strong desire tobe a part of a start-up/high growth company with an entrepreneurial spirit anda fast-paced, results-oriented culture.
