ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY In this position, you are responsible for managing underwriting caseloads for their specific team of underwriters. Underwriting Assistants will perform regular follow up on pending applications and work directly with Financial Representatives regarding these cases.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Order risk management requirements on new applications.
Follow up on all outstanding application missing information as well as outstanding risk management information (RMI) requirements.
Manage review of pending cases for Underwriting staff.
Act as main point of communication [e.g., phone, email and daily status report (DSR)] between Financial Representatives and Underwriting.
Research and respond to emails from internal departments and field agents.
Back up Underwriting prescreen phone calls.
Complete all duties above within client specific turnaround times, meeting productivity and quality standards as defined by the Department and the Company.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Minimum:
High school diploma
Two years of experience in the insurance industry
Working knowledge of medical terminology and expected outcomes, based on medical conditions
Ability to type 50+ words per minute
Detail-oriented
Proven ability to meet client expectations and deadlines.
Able to work independently and prioritize multiple projects and changing workloads.

Preferred:
Bachelors Degree
Five years of experience in the insurance industry
Previous experience with prescreening calls and/or triage (i.e., reviewing medical applications to determine the underwriting requirements to order)
Previous phone experience working with insurance agents or in customer service
Thorough knowledge of detailed medical terminology and expected outcomes, based on medical conditions.
