The Role of the Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator (EDCNE) is responsible for the overall education and competency validation of staff within the Emergency Department. This position is aligned as direct report to the Clinic Director/Nurse Leader in the Emergency Department under the Primary and Specialty Medicine Service Line.

Applications are being accepted for a full time nurse in the Emergency Department to work on-site as an Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator/Emergency Department Nurse. The RN working in this position will be responsible for clinical orientation of newly hired RNs, LPNs, Health Techs and SNTs in the Emergency Department. This position will also provide ongoing clinical education and staff development for all levels of practice. In this position you will promote standards of care and national VA directives, develop expertise in assessing learning needs, project planning and development, presenting and evaluating education programs and provide continued readiness educational support for Joint Commission accreditation and compliance with VA directives and other regulatory bodies. This position will work collaboratively with the Education Service line to ensure education standards are in compliance and meet the Emergency Department needs. This position will be approximately .5 Emergency Department educator and .5 direct patient care and will rotate based on department needs and education.
Requirements: BSN required, Masters Degree preferred. Emergency Department experience necessary, CEN and TNCC preferred.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

- Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- BSN Required, Masters Degree Preferred.
- Emergency Department Experience necessary, CEN and TNCC preferred.
