BASIC PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Research and Development (R&D) Project coordinator is responsible for assisting the R&D Project Manager(s) in all aspects of product development projects, including Project Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling and Closing. The R&D Project Coordinator will develop and manage the collection of information required to ensure R&D software development objectives are met. In support of the project manager, the R&D Project Coordinator is expected to interface with most areas of the business that are impacted by the project and its deliverables.
The R&D Project Coordinator will also act as the liaison and provide coordination for product development that has been outsourced to other Toshiba development organizations which are leveraging and/or integrating with the Vital technology stack.
Depending upon experience, the project coordinator may at times be responsible for project management activities of a subset of a large project or a small, short life-cycle software release under the direction of one of the R&D project managers. This may include coordination of projects that span business units.
OVERALL OUTPUTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure development projects adhere to all published quality and regulatory processes.
• Takes direction from the Senior Project Manager of the Project Management Organization.
• Support the project manager in the development of project plans that ensure projects meet established quality, schedule and budget targets
• Manage the collection and timely reporting of project metrics as defined by the software development process and project manager. This includes the capture of key project performance indicators, specifically Plan vs. Actual and Defect Injection Rates
• Ensure that project deliverables adhere to all published quality and regulatory processes.
• As required, processes document change requests.
• At the project managers discretion, may manage the production and delivery of some or all required quality and regulatory deliverables.
• Administer and maintain effective project team sites utilizing MS SharePoint Server including:
o Building and maintaining Project Status and Reporting Dashboards utilizing Web Parts
o Building and maintaining Project Document Libraries and Lists
o Building and maintaining Project Collaboration Tools
• Assist project manager in managing and mitigating identified project risks.
• Participate in the identification and implementation of development process changes.
• Coordinate product development activities that have been outsourced to other Toshiba development organizations.
• Lead project retrospectives, capture key lessons learned, make recommendations to R&D Management relative to process improvement and may implement accepted process improvement inititatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must have the ability to manage multiple tasks with flexible priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for succeeding in this position. The individual will be expected to work in both independent and team settings. A demonstrated ability to respond quickly and appropriately in high stress situations is sought for this position.
Experience in the software development lifecycle applied in medical software and device development in a regulated industry (particularly the FDA) is considered very beneficial for this position
Key Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in either a Technology or Business focused discipline
• Proven ability to effectively interface with global teams and diverse groups of individuals
• Basic understanding of Project Management methodologies
• Understanding of MS SharePoint Server, MS Project and MS Office suite of tools.
• Proficient utilizing MS Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Strong passion for learning new skills and technologies
• Good understanding implementation of problem resolution methodologies and skills
Preferred:
• Proficient with MS SharePoint Server, MS Project and MS Office suite of tools
• Experience in the development of project related success factors and measurements.
• Experience with the development and/or implementation of enterprise software solution
• Experience interfacing with global entities
• Fluency in Japanese a plus!
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. No unusual physical requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours can vary and expand as dictated by project demands.
