Director of Health Information ManagementDirector of Health Information ManagementAs a Director of Health Information Management you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all information on the residents medical record.

Additional responsibilities of the Director of Health Information Management include:

• Maintaining knowledge of health information management related policies and procedures and assures systems and policies are in place.
• Assisting the staff development nurse to coordinate training of staff on the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
• Maintaining and assuring the integrity of the clinical system and integrates new users.
• Monitoring written documentation.
• Routing infection control information from physicians orders to the infection control nurse.

To qualify for the Director of Health Information Management, you must have effective communication skills and be able to work with individuals of all ages.

Additional requirements of the Director of Health Information Management include:

• Ability to be organized and do detailed work.
• Diplomacy skills for working with staff is helpful.
• Typing and computer skills.
• Ability to supervise.
• RHIT, RHIA or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
