Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd Shift at Minnetonka

The Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd shift will maintain safety, quality, and production by ensuring safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex industrial machines. They require knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and trouble-shooting industrial equipment utilizing PLC, relay, and control circuits. May also machine, fabricate, weld, or modify parts for equipment.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition you will:

  • Observe all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices and participation in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits
  • Maintain department housekeeping and equipment in good operating condition
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive and predictive maintenance required on machinery and mechanical equipment; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturers instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjust functional parts or devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventorie by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Draw or modify prints and schematics for new equipment or equipment upgrades
  • Design / build equipment, jigs, and fixtures
  • Perform troubleshooting on PLC (Programmable Logic Control), ladder logic, and control circuits
  • Perform and document routine preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Evaluate processes and make recommendations for improvements
  • Provide assistance and training to other maintenance and department personnel as directed
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by Supervisor and Facilitator
  • These duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive and will be supplemented as necessary

    Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience as machine operator or machinist, including job experience performing shop math calculations such as fraction and decimal equivalents, machine operation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of automated equipment
  • Vocational certification in related field OR Minimum of 3 years of related work experience

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime
  • Ability and willingness to work on a rotating schedule that includes regular weekend coverage
  • Ability and willingness to work a 12 hour shift schedule
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be willing to take a drug test & submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
  • Possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
