Job Description
Currently seeking Recovery Care Coordinators (RCCs) to provide non-clinical case management services of the Wounded Warrior Regiment’s RCC program. This program provides and facilitates assistance to wounded, ill, and injured marines, sailors attached or in support of marine units, and their family members, throughout the phases of recovery in order to assist in rehabilitation and transition.
RCCs serve as the Marine’s resource subject matter expert to help them define and meet their individual goals for recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration. The RCC ensures the recovering service member has access to all medical and non-clinical resources throughout the continuum of care across multiple agencies and assists in minimizing delays and gaps in treatment and service. RCCs regularly meet with members of their Marines’ recovery teams to improve care delivery and ensure goals stay on track. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Support the assessment and identification of family needs as it relates to the Comprehensive Recovery Plan and ensures those needs are met. Review and make modifications, anticipating future challenges, in conjunction with the supporting team, including family members, as appropriate.
- Ensure that the recovering service member and family has access to all medical and non-medical care management services, identify gaps in services, intervene as necessary to expedite outcomes and assists with coordination of resources. Work closely with on-base Marine Corps agencies, and the Marine Corps’ Wounded Warrior Regiment to ensure delivery of assistance and to resolve conflicts.
- Facilitate an efficient, effective and smooth rehabilitation and transition back to active duty or civilian life as a veteran through coordination with appropriate personnel (Military Service Coordinators/VA Liaisons and other agencies).
- Assist in coordinating local and state resources, including referral to Governmental and Non-Governmental agencies, state and local services and agencies, as appropriate, where the recovering service member and family will reside.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes in accordance with governing program guidance. Maintain detailed records of recovering service members to document delivery of benefits and medical and non-medical care.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience associated with helping, supervising, and providing guidance to others in the military may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree
- Military experience in the Marine Corps preferred such as First Sergeant, Sergeant Major, Commander, or a wide range of personnel and benefits counseling experience. Similar work in civilian community service settings for the military or a combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Exceptional interpersonal skill set including negotiating skills, strategic problem-solving skills, mentoring and motivational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Individuals must possess excellent organizational and management skills.
- Must be a United States citizen and meet English language proficiency. Bilingual ability is an asset in communicating with family members who are not proficient in English.
- Knowledge of support programs and processes provided by Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, and Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Labor, and other governmental and non-governmental support agencies.
- Knowledge of accessing identified benefits and the ability to access benefit information from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to Marine Corps specific information and benefits, Veterans Affairs benefits, Marine Corps Wounded Warrior programs, and Family Readiness centers.
- Analytical ability to access and interpret information necessary to evaluate how to best support the recovering service member and family through the entire spectrum of care management, rehabilitation, and transition services.
- Knowledge of military systems/ protocols, specifically as they relate to recovering Marines and their families preferred.
- Ability to collaborate and display positive interactions with members of the WWR and other government agencies.
