The ideal candidate must excel in building strong relationships, understanding business requirements and effectively communicate and manage solutions through ideation, concept validation, and product commercialization. The candidate must have advanced ability to work in an ambiguous work environment to drive ideas.Successful candidate will work across the spectrum of Innovation and R&D programs to provide technical and business architecture inputs. We are seeking someone with the ability to bring knowledge of existing products, organizational structures, tools, technologies, and business process to innovation ideation, prototyping/market test, and commercialization efforts. Working to bring solutions, that leverage existing capabilities, to the UHG Benefits businesses (Employer and Individual, Medicare and Retirement, Community and State) and Healthcare services (Optum) business segments.Positions in this function are involved in the development, communication and implementation of the organizations technology architecture and applications plan, including the components required to support it and in the integration of corporate and business architectures and applications. Responsible for coordinating, administering and supporting activities related to data planning, data recovery and development and related projects. Includes all types of IT business architects as well as IT technical architects.Provides leadership and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff.

Job Requirements

15 + years or more of strong cross functional IT experience with specific attention to application development, architecture and program management.7+ years consulting experience at the intersection of Business and IT Strategy7+ years project management and business systems analysis experience.Healthcare industry experience requiredBachelors Degree in Management Information Systems or appropriate level of experienceSuccess Factors:Internal IT and Business knowledge across UHG and Optum strong desiredStrong analytical, problem solving, critical and lateral thinking skillsSolid business process knowledge and experience; ability to demonstrate significant impact in process improvement and managementExtensive experience planning and deploying either business or IT initiatives (preference for both)Proven expertise with data strategy and architecture in a large, matrixed organizationStrong multifunctional business experience in a cross-matrix environmentEffective leadership, judgment skills and decision making abilitiesSelf-managed, self-starter able to work in rapidly changing environmentExceptional communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization (this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations)Strong leadership abilities, including an assertive (yet diplomatic) personality, a great attitude and ability to lead people effectively through changeProficiency with Software/systems (MS Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio)Knowledge of software applications, database management systems, and other business related technologies preferredWhy Join Us?UnitedHealth Group is a company thats on the rise.
