Accountant-Senior at Saint Paul

Job Description

Merrill is looking for a strong Senior Accountant to join our dynamic service driven culture in our St. Paul, MN location. 

 

Senior Accountants perform a variety of tasks and must have ability to apply business knowledge to monthly recording of transactions and maintaining account reconciliations.  Although generalists, senior accountants will focus on revenue and costs associated with products and manage accounting for transactions not necessarily tied to products such as working with legal, IT or other departments that cross many product areas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take a proactive approach to early identification and resolution of unique transactions and/or accounting issues
  • Work with shared services and others to assist in areas requiring specific business knowledge, for example:
    • Recording  AP accruals
    • Intercompany reconciliations
    • Recording other revenue accruals and cost estimates
  • Prepare reconciliations and propose timely adjustments
  • Review assigned accounts for accuracy and ensure that transactions are properly recorded.  Ensure timing and classification of entries is proper
  • Identify, manage and support process improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and  review of journal entries
  • Ensure that corporate policies and procedures are consistently applied
  • Provide analysis and support for requests from internal and external auditors

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years relevant experience/ Big 4 Public Accounting experience
  • Previous Oracle, Hyperion and/or relevant experience with other global ERP systems
  • Highly developed skills in  Microsoft Office  (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access)
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting
  • CPA certification required
