Linux Administrator

Rochester MN Contract (6) months

Linux Administrator needed on a contract basis to assist and support Red Hat Linux environment.

Required:

BS/BA relevant to systems & networking

2+ years Linux systems administration experience

Experience with 24/7 production web environment

Must be able to work independently

MUST be open minded and able to work in a TEAM environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong problem-solving expertise and attention to detail

Preferred:

Strong Linux/Unix background (including kernel configuration capabilities)

Knowledge of Linux installation, single user mode, NFS, network configuration

Extensive knowledge of server hardware installation, maintenance and optimization,
RAID configuration, etc.

Knowledge of server hardening and patch management

Knowledge of monitoring and capacity management

Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking, SAN, firewalling, application delivery systems, Cisco IOS, DNS, QoS, LDAP, email

Knowledge of MySQL administration including replication, backup and recovery

Scripting experience (SHELL OR PERL)

Experience with open source tools and applications

Production support of medium size web environment running the LAMP stack

Understanding of PCI compliance and security best practices

Networking knowledge (TCP handshaking, routing, networking protocols, etc.)

Experience with virtualization (VMware)

Knowledge of load balancers

Java/Tomcat environment ? building (ant) and deploying Java code

Networking knowledge, (Wire Shark, tcpdump, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL, SSH, LDAP,
SNMP, DNS or SMTP)

Red Hat Linux Certification, A+ Certification a plus
