Wire Feed Welder at Lake Crystal

Job Description

• Responsible for meeting customer needs by:
  Setting up and operating welding equipment to weld and assemble truck bodies, hoists and fabricated parts (may include working Robotic Welder)
• Maintaining a clean work environment
• Assisting with continuous process improvement and lean initiatives by following process flow, remaining flexible to complete tasks as part of the team, maintaining a clean work environment and offering suggestions for improvements, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

 

• Tools Used:  Welding equipment, robot welder, jigs, clamps, computer, buffer, grinder, wire brush, cutting torch, hand tools, overhead hoists, forklift trucks, hand carts, measuring devices, air tools, etc.
• Safety Equipment Used:  Welding helmet, leathers (optional), safety glasses, safety shoes with metatarsal guards, face shield, ear plugs, gloves, etc.
• Environment:  Heavy industrial atmosphere including exposure to grease, oil, heat, humidity, fumes/odors, sparks, occasionally cramped quarters, and awkward positions.

 

 

Work Schedule:  Monday thru Thursday, 5:45am – 4:15pm, occasional Fridays

Job Requirements

Competence for this job may be shown by completing the TBEI – Lake Crystal New Welder Program and passing at least 1 Welder Qualification Test

Essential Job Functions:

• Prompt and reliable attendance so we can meet our customer needs.
• Ability to perform basic math to determine ability to measure, assemble and problem-solve.
• Must be able to demonstrate welding ability.  Must be able to pass welding certifications.
• Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through regular heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and bending.  Using the overhead hoists requires ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs. 
• Ability to stand and work in various positions for several hours at a time.  Most of the work is done on concrete, ladders and in dump bodies.
• Ability to determine and make welding equipment adjustments as needed, read complicated instructions, blueprints, measuring devices, and perform basic computer data entry.
• Must be a team player working with co-workers, other departments and/or other TBEI facilities.  The focus is on meeting company goals and initiatives.
• Ability to learn operations of multiple machines/jigs within a job area and must be able to regularly rotate jobs to meet job schedule, team needs or to meet any safety recommendations.
• Must work at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion of tasks and must work overtime as required to meet customer needs.
• Must work in a safe manner following safety procedures, including: wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), completing maintenance requests and communicating hazards to co-workers and management.
