Cost Accountant at Minneapolis

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Work withplant staff regarding standard cost setting and standardization ofItem Card information
• Work withDC staff in the areas of inventory control and standard costsetting
• Assist in roll up of new product standards
• Assist in annual budgeting process
• Involvement in cost estimategeneration and progressive cost estimates, and understanding thetotal company impact; correcting standard costs that aresignificantly different and will materially impact the company;reviewing COGS, inventory adjustments and variance accounts tounderstand the sources, corrections and processfixes
• Review and analyze inventory transactions to adjustment andwrite-off accounts; month end inventory reconciliation
• Periodic reviews of cycle counting and recommendations forprocedure changes
• Periodic audits of procedures and analysis of implementing bestpractices across all companies
• Work with Purchasing and Repack to monitor and report known andpotential obsolete packaging
• Process period-end close journal entries and accruals;responsible for corporate consolidation of PPV and Meat Analysis;in-depth COGS analysis; various other period end close reporting& distribution ~C~

Requirements:

• Four year degree in Accounting
• Five + years prior cost accounting experience in amanufacturing environment, preferably food industries
• High level computer skills, with an emphasis on MicrosoftOffice programs, especially Excel
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a highly demanding environment independentlywith multiple projects and deadlines and minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills
• Advanced computer skills, with an emphasis on Excel
