Tetra Tech Inc., a subsidiary of Tetra Tech, is currently seeking a full-time, Environmental Project Manager to work out of our Bloomington, MN office.

The selected candidate will help manage and support environmental site assessment and remediation efforts for projects in the Midwest. Responsibilities will include management and execution of field activities for Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments; preparation of work plans for, and implementation of, Remedial Investigations and Site Cleanups; managing subcontracts; mentoring less experienced staff; overseeing the collection of soil, soil vapor and groundwater samples following Tetra Tech SOPs and state standards; development of technical and regulatory recommendations; and data evaluation and preparation of summary reports. Candidate will be expected to have experience in work scope and cost estimate development, effectively manage project budgets, plan and schedule work, and track work performance. Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 to 7 years of environmental consulting experience, including experience completing and managing work under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA regulations as well as related state programs. Must have solid experience in preparing project-related plans such as Field Sampling Plans, Health and Safety Plans and Quality Assurance Project Plans; assessing data and making recommendations; and being the primary author of technical reports. Field experience should include direction of sampling efforts for soil, surface water, groundwater and soil vapor. Should be well versed in state and federal regulatory program requirements, with demonstrated ability to maintain good regulatory agency relationships.

Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience including direct experience managing environmental site assessment and cleanup projects.
  • Relevant and reputable experience with both private and public sector contacts.
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support complex and time sensitive projects, manage field teams, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated activity in professional societies.
You must be able to manage time well and work on tasks as part of a larger project team. Must be highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, preferred. Must be able to translate regulatory language into plain English terms to clearly communicate requirements to non-regulatory personnel.

BS in engineering, geology or a biological science is required. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is also required. Professional registration as an engineer or geologist is preferred.

This position requires a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check. The work environment will primarily consist of an office environment and around 20% to 30% field work. It will require the ability to perform moderate lifting of field equipment, generally less than 30 pounds. Field work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree, at times in areas of uneven terrain in varying temperatures. Office work is generally related to work on a personal computer. Occasional travel requiring multiple overnight stays may be required.
