Purchasing Specialist at Minneapolis

Our client is a 300+Million dollar Pharmaceutical company who has shown continuous success throughout their many years of operation. Their serious commitment to high quality standards is apparent through the products & services they provide via one of their manufacturing facilities, located in the Midwestern US. They continue to strengthen that commitment by bringing aboard experienced professionals within the pharmaceutical industry to oversee key elements of the operation. They are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist whose primary purpose will include leading strategic sourcing activities for multiple spend categories including raw materials, equipment, services and new supply chain opportunities with a goal of achieving significant reductions in total material costs and providing multiple approved suppliers for key raw materials. Reporting to the Director, Material Resources, he/she will be overseeing all sourcing initiatives and will be working with the Director, MR in negotiating material pricing for new & existing materials and/or services

Major Responsibilities:

Source materials, services for existing and new supply chain opportunities.

Identify multiple sources for key raw materials.

Working with vendors, secure samples and formal price quotes for purchasing consideration.

Working with Project Managers and Chemical Development staff in sourcing/pricing new raw materials and other services needed to support new product development efforts.

Work with the Buyer and act as back-up for Buyer in their absence.

Host vendor visits and meetings.

Skills, Education, & Qualifications:

High school diploma required, Bachelor degree beneficial.

3+ years of experience in materials management or new project management

involving procuring new raw materials.

Experience negotiating pricing, contracts or other services.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge or experience with chemical or pharmaceutical intermediate sourcing will be considered highly beneficial.

Proficient in windows based environment including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs.
